As reported by The Daily Record, Rangers defender Bruno Alves has been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, with a former club eager to sign him.
What’s the story?
Alves arrived with much fanfare last summer as failed manager Pedro Caixinha’s first signing. However, his move to Glasgow hasn’t worked out to anyone’s benefit with the player losing form and the Light Blues lumbered with paying high wages for a defender who wasn’t pulling his weight in the first team.
The Daily Record report that Vitoria Guimaraes are keen on signing him this summer, having previously had the player on loan for a season way back in 2003/04.
The paper reckon there are key hurdles though, chiefly his estimated £28,000-a-week wages and the fact that Rangers may be looking for a transfer fee for his services.

Should Rangers be looking to get rid?
Unless Steven Gerrard manages to inspire a burst of form in the 36-year-old, the Portuguese’s future at Ibrox looks dim and with the World Cup dominating his summer, there’s a chance he could have played his last game for the Light Blues.
Rangers should be pro-active in finding a club who wants to take him off their hands, with the resources generated by shedding his salary off the wage bill likely to go a long way to securing some of Gerrard’s main targets.
The longer he remains at Ibrox, the more frustrating his time at the club becomes for fans.
