As reported by The Mirror, Ronald Koeman could take drastic action to ensure Wayne Rooney is kept in line at Everton this season.
What’s the story?
Rooney’s return to Goodison Park was one of the feel-good transfer stories of the summer with the star returning to his roots after a successful career at Manchester United. It was a move that caught all the headlines and highlighted the strides that the Toffees are trying to make in the Premier League this season.
That feel-good factor was shattered last week though when it was revealed the former England international was charged with drink-driving.
The Mirror report that Everton boss Koeman was furious with his actions and will threaten to put Rooney on the transfer list if he steps out of line again.
The paper say the Dutchman wanted Rooney to be a role model to other Everton players after his big move from Old Trafford and even discussed curbing the attacker’s drinking habits prior to this incident.
If Rooney starts creating and scoring goals on a regular basis then this will be a blip on the road of his return to the club but the English legend will have to keep on the right side of Koeman, or could risk his future at the club.
