Harry Kane should look to leave “mediocre” Spurs for the good of his career, according to former England player Rodney Marsh.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season in 2014/15, in which he notched in excess of 30 goals for club and country despite starting the campaign as a back-up man at White Hart Lane.
His form led to links with a summer switch to Manchester United, with Louis van Gaal’s side understood to have looked at him as they aimed to bolster their attacking ranks.

Kane, however, stayed put and reiterated his commitment to the North London club, but Marsh believes that the Three Lions star should turn his back on the Lilywhites as he has the potential to perform at the very highest level:
“He needs to go on and become the player he can be. He isn’t going to become that at Spurs because Spurs have now become that mediocre, second-tier team in the Premier League.” He told talkSPORT.
“He needs to be at a top club. I would love to see him at Manchester City because I think he could score 30 goals a year for the next ten years.”
Marsh went on to claim that Kane is worth £100m in the current market, with the valuations of the likes of Angel di Maria taken into account:
“People took it all out of proportion but what I said at the time was that in the current market when people are paying £62.5million for Angel di Maria, then Harry Kane’s value in the current market is £100million.
“I’m even more convinced now and in a couple of years people will say, ‘remember what Marshy said a couple of years ago, well he was dead right wasn’t he!’”
