Frimpong is thought to be eager for a new challenge in the summer and could be set to leave Xabi Alonso's side. According to , the Dutchman has been in touch with the Reds over a potential summer transfer to Anfield. Leverkusen are believed to value Frimpong at around €40 million (£33m), and he has a contract at the German club until 2028.

Frimpong is not the only Bundesliga star on Liverpool's radar ahead of the summer transfer window. The Reds are also interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ansgar Knauff, Wolfsburg’s Konstantinos Koulierakis and Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, according to the report. Knauff is seen as a more versatile and cheaper option that Frimpong, with the Eintracht Frankfurt defender valued at €25m (£21m).
