The majority of attention appears to be focused on three European Leagues.
The richest and most widely exported is our own Premier League, followed by La Liga and Serie A. The French Ligue 1 has become a hunting ground for all teams looking for a gem to polish up, but it is not a league that is wildly competitive, as PSG prove year after year.
A dash for cash and extended playing career has seen a few star names heading for Turkey, while the Dutch Eredivisie is constantly only a mere after thought.
But Germany’s Bundesliga is getting more coverage these days and is a genuine hotbed of talent. Borussia Dortmund’s current squad is slowly being taken apart, as four of five of their top names look to depart, three of which could end up on British shores this summer.
German football benefited the most from the Premier League’s incredible spending spree last summer, as English top flight clubs splashed a massive £151m on players from the Bundesliga, with the likes of Kevin de Bruyne leading the way.
But who else is ready to join the Premier League and make a name for themselves.
Here are five…
Ricardo Rodriguez
A great left-back can be hard to come by in the Premier League, so there could be a number of teams in England’s top-flight potentially eyeing Ricardo Rodriguez this January.
The Wolfsburg defender is no stranger to getting forward and his attacking abilities have earned him several plaudits already this season, with an impressive six goals and four assists in 16 games.
Mario Gotze
Time to leave the comfort zone of Bayern.
Since the arrival of Portuguese international Renato Sanches, Gotze is now falling down the pecking order, as Kingsley Coman took his place more often than not last season.
Gotze is also finding it difficult to establish himself with the German national team and could very soon become the forgotten man.
He needs to rejuvenate his career and the Premier League is perfect for him.
Kevin Volland
Having come through from TSV Munich 1860 and Hoffenheim, Volland has made his name in the Bundesliga as a deadly striker.
Having joined Leverkusen in May, he is probably a year away from joining the Premier League, but he should not be overlooked.
The 23-year-old has been deployed as an explosive winger for much of the previous couple of seasons, but is very much at home as a central striker.
The German international will link up with Hernandez next season after an 18 million euro move, but expect to see Volland in the Premier League soon.
Christoph Kramer
Although he has only recently signed a contract with Borussia Monchengladbach, why he hasn’t been snapped up before is a bit of a mystery.
This German international slips under the radar every transfer window, but is highly rated in the Bundesliga. A defensive midfielder, he is solid and provides cover for the back four and is said to be one of Germany’s stars of the future.
Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool have watched him, but a move to England would let us see what the Bundesliga sees every week.
Leroy Sane
Another attacking midfielder, the 20-year-old Sane is wanted by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Not only is Das Wunderkind being chased by City, but rumours of Manchester United and Bayern Munich considering bids are also putting pressure on the player.
As if that was not enough, Sane was selected for the German Euro 2016 squad over the injured Marco Reus. The Schalke player will be hot property over the summer for sure.
